Is a loc retwist the same as getting soft locs?
No. A loc retwist is maintenance for an existing loc system and focuses on new growth at the roots. Soft locs and textured locs are styling services that create a loc-inspired look. Choose the page that matches whether you already have locs or want a temporary loc style.
How often should locs be retwisted?
There is no single schedule for everyone. Starter locs, mature locs, hair growth, scalp condition and the method used all affect timing. If you are unsure, send a current photo of your roots and explain when your last retwist was so the service can be confirmed before booking.
What should I send when asking about a loc appointment?
Send the service you want, a current photo of your hair or locs, the approximate length, when the last maintenance was done if applicable, and any reference image for the finished look.
Protective styling should not mean painful styling.
If braids, cornrows, locs, weaves or extensions feel painfully tight, cause persistent stinging or visibly pull the hairline, speak up. The American Academy of Dermatology warns that repeated tension can contribute to traction alopecia.
